Two Sleek New Canon Scanners Prove That Good Things Come in Small Packages
Consumers looking to archive old family snapshots or just keep better track of their household bills and documents need look no further than the new Canon CanoScan® LiDE 25 and CanoScan LiDE 60 Color Image Scanners. Both new scanners from Canon offer improved performance and ease-of-use in sleek, stylish designs, all at entry-level price points.
"With the release of these two new models, Canon continues to assert its global leadership in the digital imaging market," said Yukiaki Hashimoto, senior vice president and general manager of the consumer imaging group at Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc. (NYSE: CAJ). "Both the CanoScan LiDE 25 and CanoScan LiDE 60 Color Image Scanners were created to meet our customers’ needs for better, easier-to-use photo scanners that don’t take up much space on their desktops."
CanoScan LiDE 25 Scanner
Scanning of family snapshots and personal documents just got a whole lot easier with the new, streamlined CanoScan LiDE 25 Color Image Scanner. Only 1.3" high, the CanoScan LiDE 25 Color Image Scanner uses one simple cable to provide both power and a USB connection, reducing the number of wires around your desk. Three easy-to-use buttons on the scanner automate common scanning tasks such as copying, scanning or e-mailing of images or documents. The LiDE 25 scanner also comes with Quality Automatic Retouching and Enhancement (QARE Level 3) technology, which reduces much of the dust and scratches from older originals. QARE technology even autocorrects scanned images to help with graininess, picture fading and improper backlighting. Thanks to the Canon exclusive Advanced Z-Lid™ expansion top, which automatically lifts approximately one inch vertically and lays flat on the item being scanned, the CanoScan LiDE 25 scanner can even deliver high-quality scans of bulky items such as books and magazines
With a maximum 1200 x 2400 color dpi resolution (software enhanced resolution: 19,200 dpi) and 48-bit Input color depth (24-bit Output) for over 281 trillion possible colors, the CanoScan LiDE 25 scanner is not only efficient, it produces rich, beautiful scans.
The LiDE 25 scanner comes with a powerful software application as well-Canon CanoScan Toolbox 4.9 which lets the user scan, copy, print, e-mail or create PDF documents from an easy to use software interface. Multi-page PDF files can be created and the page sequence changed in an easy to use interface. For larger projects, Multi-Scan mode scans multiple images simultaneously, rather than one by one. Just arrange photos on the glass, select "Multi-Scan," and the scanner automatically saves each image to its own file for archiving and editing. ScanGear CS 11.0 can be used as a standalone driver so users can scan and save images without first having to launch a TWAIN-compliant software application. The LiDE 25 also comes with ScanSoft® OmniPage® SE* for OCR scanning and Arcsoft® PhotoStudio® software for organizing and editing scanned photos.
CanoScan LiDE 60 Scanner
For work or for play, the sleek CanoScan LiDE 60 Color Image Scanner is a one-stop scanning machine. To boost speed while maintaining simplicity, the new LiDE 60 scanner uses just one USB 2.0 Hi-Speed cable for both USB connectivity and power. The addition of the USB 2.0** High-Speed interface enables lightning fast image transfers from scanner to computer with maximum scanning speeds and previews of scans on the LiDE 60 scanner clocking in at approximately nine seconds, depending upon operating system speed. The LiDE 60 scanner is able to produce a maximum 1200 x 2400 color dpi resolution (software enhanced: 19,200 color dpi) and 48-bit color depth, for over 281 trillion possible colors.
The LiDE 60 scanner also features a slim form factor, with a sophisticated metallic finish giving it a sleek, professional look. Four easy-to-use buttons on the LiDE 60 scanner automate the scanning process, making it a snap to scan, copy, and create e-mail attachments or PDFs. A desktop stand included with the LiDE 60 scanner can position it vertically to save desk space.
Like the LiDE 25 model, the LiDE 60 scanner has the Canon Advanced Z-Lid expansion top for scanning bulky items. The LiDE 60 scanner also features Multi-Scan mode for scanning multiple images simultaneously with each image saved as an individual file. The LiDE 60 scanner also comes equipped with Quality Automatic Retouching and Enhancement (QARE Level 3) technology. CanoScan Toolbox 4.9, ScanGear CS 11.1, ScanSoft OmniPage SE and Arcsoft PhotoStudio come with the LiDE 60.
All of the Canon LiDE scanners use a small, low powered LED light source and the integration of lens elements directly on the scanning sensor to substantially reduce the number and size of individual components needed to produce a scanner. This results in a slim design that is lightweight and feature-rich for the end user.
Both the CanoScan LiDE 25 and CanoScan LiDE 60 scanners are compatible with Windows XP, 2000, ME or 98*** operating systems and Mac OS X (10.2 to 10.3.x) operating systems. The CanoScan LiDE 25 and CanoScan LiDE 60 will be available in June for an estimated selling price of 49.99 and 79.99**** respectively.
