Platform Switching is Quite a Venture
First, I must apologize for the lack of tutorial updates recently. I have been sneaking in news updates as here and there, but I just haven’t had time to write any new tutorials. Now I’m going to point the blame. Ready for some pointing? My index finger is extending to my Asus laptop. That’s right, it’s my computer’s fault I haven’t been posting. Ok, well, not entirely, there’s been some birthdays and weddings thrown in the mix.
After 2+ years of faithful and flawless service, my Asus M6N’s external monitor output decided to take a permanent vacation. I was originally planning on buying a low-end digital SLR camera but my recent equipment failure sent my wallet down a different path. After not having a desktop for over two years, I decided it would be nice to have a nice little workstation at home. So, I bought a Mac Mini.
The idea of the flexibility of booting Windows and OS X (easily) is what made me pick up a Mac. The only downside being, I’ve never owned a Mac before. I’ve used OS X before, I was even a Tech Editor for one of the original OS X tips books, I’ve just never used it in my own home.
Now, I could’ve gone down the simple route and just downloaded Boot Camp, installed Windows XP and all of my Windows software and been on my way, but what fun would that be? So, I’ve been busy setting up, configuring, installing, removing and cleaning up my new OS X “workstation.”
So, as I get settled in and configured, I’ll be back to posting on a (hopefully) regular schedule.
