New Housings Take Coolpix Cameras Below the Surface

Travelers capturing memories using Nikon Coolpix digital cameras are no longer restricted to topside digital photography. With the help of new accessories, the brilliant yellow tropical fish or the amazing coral reef systems can be captured using a Coolpix compact digital camera. Nikon now offers a series of waterproof housings for its new Coolpix 4600, 5600, 5900, 7900 and S1 digital cameras. The cases establish creative opportunities for adventurers, travelers and demanding shooters who want access to their digital camera while underwater or in adverse conditions like rain or sand … even the backyard swimming pool.

The housings allow the user to control every function of the camera, including access to all menus, Scene Modes and camera settings. The Housings have been rigorously tested to produce crystal clear results at depths of up to 130 feet underwater safely secured and protected.

“Underwater photography is a whole new dimension for the average traveler and photographer,” said Bill Giordano, General Manager of Marketing for Nikon Inc. “The waterproof housing, and the new Coolpix Underwater Scene Mode work hand-in-hand to give Nikon owners the best quality photos, regardless of whether they are in a four-foot deep backyard pool or on a hundred foot adventure dive.”

The WP-CP3 case is specially designed for use with the Nikon Coolpix 4600 and Coolpix 5600 cameras, while the WP-CP4 case is built for the Nikon Coolpix 5900 and Coolpix 7900. Even the slim new Coolpix S1, with its 2.5-inch bright LCD, has it own sleek underwater housing (WP-CP5). All five cameras incorporate Nikon’s new Underwater Scene Mode, which enables true-to-life colors to be captured when taking shots underwater. Now users can capture fine details on a school of fish through the deep blue colors of the ocean. Like all the other Scene Modes, operation is extremely easy. Simply select the appropriate Mode, then point and shoot for optimal results.

The waterproof housings have an MSRP of $249.95 and are available at select photo specialty retailers nationwide. For more information about underwater photography or Nikon Coolpix digital cameras, please visit www.nikondigital.com.
