So far, the new admin area upgrades are very welcomed. I’ve been monitoring the 2.5 plugin compatibility list waiting for a few plugins we run to appear on the “compatible” side, but there’s still a few that haven’t. I think we’re going to go ahead with the upgrade and see how we fair.

So, plugins deactiving, files uploading, here we go…

UPDATE Upgrade went well. Looks like there’s a few plugin fixes needed…

UPDATE Seems like the two plugins I tried to use for getting recent comments aren’t working correctly. It’s not important enough of a feature for me to debug myself, so I’ll just disable and keep an eye out if they update.

If you’ve been here before, then I now welcome you to the new Photoshop Lab. I’ve been wanting to update the design of this site for a very, very long time. I’ve gone through many different design phases. In fact, I have about 14 different mock-ups I’ve done over the past year or so. I finally pushed myself to complete one of the designs and well… here you go. Let’s move on to the new features:

Entirely WordPress -based.

jQuery (my favorite of all libraries) fanciness on the homepage slideshow and navigation.

The Trunk – a new place for random quips and awesomeness.

Less ad-slop. I wanted to make my advertising more appealing (and hopefully more effective) by cleaning it up a bit.

A new place to submit tutorial ideas.

There’s still a fair amount of debugging to do, especially with Internet Explorer 6 (ugh), but it should be good to go for the most part. I hope you enjoy and if there are any glaring issues, please email us.

Adobe Systems Incorporated has an update to the free Photoshop® Camera Raw plug-in now available for immediate download on Adobe.com. The Camera Raw 4.1 update includes improved noise reduction and sharpening tools and raw file support for 13 additional camera models and camera backs. This update also builds on the raw file support integrated in the Photoshop family of products.

The camera raw functionality in the Adobe Photoshop software provides fast and easy access within the Photoshop line of products to the raw image formats produced by many leading professional and midrange digital cameras. Working with these digital negatives allows greater artistic control and flexibility while still maintaining the original raw files.

Camera Raw 4.1 plug-in also supports the same functionality for TIFF and JPEG files. Now professional photographers can quickly and easily import and manipulate raw data, producing the highest quality results while saving time.

The new Camera Raw 4.1 plug-in supports 13 digital cameras including the Canon EOS-1D Mark III, Fuji FinePix S5 Pro, Nikon D40x, Olympus E-410, Olympus SP-550 UZ, Sigma SD14, Phase One H 20, Phase One H 25, Phase One P 20, Phase One P 21, Phase One P 25, Phase One P 30 and Phase One P 45.

Additionally, Camera Raw 4.1 will add support for popular camera backs from Phase One, including the H20, H25, P20, P21, P25, P30 and P45 models. The free Adobe DNG Converter, that is part of this update, translates all Photoshop-supported raw photo formats into the universal .DNG file format giving photographers a single unified file format for
archiving raw files.

Photoshop Lightroom, leveraging Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw technology, will add support for the above camera and camera back models in an update in the near future. Updates to Version Cue and Bridge will coincide with this Camera Raw plug-in update and will be available for free download on www.adobe.com.

Availability
The Adobe Camera Raw 4.1 plug-in is available with the purchase of Photoshop CS3 and as a free download for users of Photoshop CS3, Photoshop Elements 4.01 (Macintosh®) and Photoshop Elements 5.0 (Windows®) by going to the Adobe Web site at www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html. The updated Adobe DNG Converter is available today as a free download at www.adobe.com/dng.
